Building confident communication, clarity, and connection

Speech Therapy

At The Nest, we provide compassionate, individualized speech therapy for children ages three and up to support clear communication, confident expression, and strong foundations for learning and social connection. As children grow, speech and language demands increase — at home, in school, and in social settings. Our approach looks beyond isolated speech sounds to understand how the whole body, nervous system, oral motor skills, breathing, and sensory regulation are supporting communication.

We meet each child where they are and create therapy plans that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and tailored to their unique needs.

Supporting Speech Sound Development & Clarity

Clear speech depends on coordinated movements of the tongue, lips, jaw, and breath. Some children need extra support to develop accurate speech sounds and consistent clarity.

We commonly support children with:

  • Speech sound delays and articulation disorders

  • Phonological processing difficulties

  • Persistent sound errors

  • Reduced speech clarity or intelligibility

  • Difficulty being understood by others

Therapy focuses on helping children build accurate movement patterns, improve coordination, and generalize clear speech into everyday communication.

Motor-Based Speech Disorders (Including Apraxia)

Some children understand language well but have difficulty planning and coordinating the movements needed for speech. At The Nest, we are experienced in identifying and treating motor-based speech disorders, including childhood apraxia of speech (CAS).

Our approach includes:

  • Careful differential diagnosis and ongoing monitoring

  • Motor-based treatment approaches

  • High-frequency, meaningful practice

  • Support for sequencing and coordination of sounds

  • Building consistency and accuracy across words and phrases

We individualize therapy to support both the motor and emotional aspects of communication, helping children gain confidence as their speech becomes clearer.

Receptive & Expressive Language Development

Speech therapy also supports how children understand and use language. Some children need support with vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, following directions, and expressing their ideas.

We provide therapy for:

  • Receptive language delays (understanding language)

  • Expressive language delays (using language)

  • Mixed receptive-expressive language disorders

  • Narrative and conversational skills

  • Early academic language foundations

Our goal is to help children communicate their thoughts, needs, and ideas with increasing clarity and confidence.
