Our Approach FAQ's

Speech, Feeding, and Integrative Care for the Whole Child

Supporting communication, regulation, breathing, feeding, and function — from the earliest years forward.

Two Pathways of Care

At The Nest, families choose the level of support that feels right for them.

Traditional Speech & Language Therapy

Individual therapy focused on articulation, language development, expressive/receptive skills, and communication growth.

Ideal for families seeking structured, skill-based support.

Integrative & Root-Level Care

Advanced services that address underlying patterns affecting speech, feeding, sleep, breathing, posture, and regulation.

Includes:
• Orofacial myofunctional therapy
• Craniosacral therapy
• Skilled feeding & lactation support
• Collaborative infant sessions

Ideal for families seeking deeper assessment and whole-body integration.

Do you offer traditional speech therapy?

Yes.

We provide individualized speech and language therapy for children who need support with articulation, language development, and communication skills.

Some families are seeking straightforward speech support. We are happy to provide that.

What is the difference between traditional speech therapy and integrative care?

Traditional speech therapy focuses on practicing and strengthening specific communication skills.

Integrative care expands that lens to include underlying systems that influence speech and feeding — such as breathing patterns, oral muscle coordination, structural tension, and nervous system regulation.

Both approaches are valid. The right fit depends on your child’s needs and your goals.

How do we know which approach is right for our child?

During your consultation, we will listen carefully to your concerns and help guide you toward the clinician and approach that best fits your family.

Some children thrive with traditional skill-based therapy alone.

Others benefit from deeper assessment and integrative support.

There is no pressure to choose one path over the other.

Are integrative services necessary for all children?

No.

Integrative services are most helpful when:

• Progress has plateaued in traditional therapy
• Feeding and sleep concerns are present
• Mouth breathing or oral tension is observed
• Regulation challenges impact learning
• Families are seeking root-level change

We tailor recommendations carefully and collaboratively.

Why are some services structured differently?

Our clinicians have varying areas of advanced training and specialization.

All therapists are licensed Speech-Language Pathologists.

Some focus primarily on traditional speech therapy.

Others have pursued additional advanced training in craniosacral therapy, myofunctional therapy, feeding, and collaborative infant care.

Session structure and investment reflect the time, specialization, and format of care provided.
